Windows Latest conducted tests and found the web wrapper using up to seven times more RAM than the native app. That's a significant performance hit!
And this is where it gets controversial. WhatsApp's own documentation previously praised the native app for its performance and reliability. But now, that document has been updated, conveniently leaving out the benefits of a native app.
The new WhatsApp is powered by WebView2, which contributes to its RAM-intensive nature. While using RAM is not inherently bad, it becomes an issue when your system is already stretched thin. With the current RAM price crisis, upgrading your PC is not a feasible solution for most users.
The new webapp does offer some improvements, like an enhanced Community experience. But the main concern remains: why force users onto a less efficient platform?
