WATCH: 14-Year-Old Swimmer Breaks 2 N.J. Records at South Jersey Invitational (2026)

Get ready for an inspiring story about a young swimming sensation! Audrey Derivaux, a 14-year-old swimming prodigy, is making waves and breaking records.

On a recent Saturday morning, Audrey reminded us all of her extraordinary talent at the South Jersey Invitational. She dominated the competition, shattering two meet records in the process. One of these records had stood for an impressive 30 years!

In the 100 butterfly, Audrey swam an incredible 53.16 seconds, beating the previous record set by Alyce Lehman and Shelby Hutchinson. But that's not all; she also took on the breaststroke, clocking an astonishing 1:02.52, her personal best at a high school meet. This time not only broke the South Jersey record set by Julia Mason in 1995 but also secured her a spot on the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association All-American team.

And here's where it gets controversial... Audrey's performance in the breaststroke was so intense that she found herself in a tight battle with Riley Fitzpatrick. Despite the close race, Audrey managed to touch the wall first, outpacing Riley by a full second! Fitzpatrick finished an impressive second with a time of 1:03.53.

Audrey's journey to success began at the young age of 14 when she nearly made the 2024 U.S. Olympic team in the 400 individual medley. Since then, she's only continued to impress. At the 2024 U.S. Swimming Olympic Trials, she swam in six different events and qualified for the 400 IM finals with an impressive time of 4:45.23 in the prelims. This made her the youngest swimmer to reach a U.S. trials final since 2012!

As a two-time First-Team All-State selection, Audrey has consistently demonstrated her exceptional skills. Last year, she even skipped the Meet of Champions to attend a national meet, but when she did compete at MOCs in 2024, she won two state titles and set new meet records in the 200 IM and 500 free.

You can watch Audrey's record-breaking breaststroke performance below. Look for her in the red cap!

This story is a testament to the power of youth and the incredible potential that lies within young athletes. But what do you think? Is Audrey's success a result of natural talent or dedicated training? And how do you think her journey will unfold in the future? Share your thoughts and predictions in the comments below!
