Boston's White Christmas Dreams: A Fresh Snowfall on the Horizon

A fast-moving clipper system is set to bring a blanket of snow, transforming the landscape from Friday night into Saturday morning.
The snow will spread across the region from west to east, covering southern New England with a fresh layer. Worcester County and areas west may experience heavier snowfall, with over 6 inches possible. Along the shoreline south of Boston, a bit more moisture from the Atlantic could enhance the snowfall, with 2-4 inches expected in most areas.
This snow will be light and fluffy, making it easy to plow but also quick to accumulate. The weather will be cold and blustery, with temperatures in the upper 20s, so be sure to bundle up and protect your eyes from the solar glare. The second half of Saturday will bring some sunshine, making it a picturesque day despite the chill.
As the snow melts, temperatures will drop into the single digits and teens, but a warm-up is on the way for Sunday. With highs in the 30s to near 40, the state will experience a brief respite before the next storm system arrives. However, this time, it will bring rain instead of snow.
The next storm is set to start as sleet and freezing rain on Sunday night, mainly outside the 495 corridor. Even in Boston, it will transition to rain as southerly winds take hold. Monday will be a rainy and mild day, with temperatures near 50 and gusty southerly breezes. A cold front will then bring drier, colder air, marking the end of 2025 with a chilly finish.
