A dramatic late goal from Crystal Palace's Marc Guehi has sent shockwaves through the Premier League, propelling the Eagles into an unexpected fourth place.
In a thrilling encounter at Fulham on Sunday, Guehi's 87th-minute header off a corner kick sealed a hard-fought 2-1 victory for Palace. This result sees them leapfrog Everton and Chelsea, and trail Aston Villa by just four points in the race for Champions League qualification.
"I might have to check if there's a bonus for this, but I doubt it!" joked Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner.
The game started brightly for Palace, with Eddie Nketiah opening the scoring in the 20th minute. However, Fulham fought back through Harry Wilson's 38th-minute equalizer.
But here's where it gets controversial...
In the second half, Fulham had a goal controversially disallowed after a video review. This decision proved pivotal, as it allowed Palace to maintain their composure and eventually snatch the winner.
"I'm incredibly proud of the team's resilience," Glasner said. "Despite the video review going against us, we kept our heads and continued to push forward. That's when we found the winner from a set piece."
The Premier League title race is heating up, with Aston Villa's late winner against Arsenal on Saturday cutting the Gunners' lead to just two points. Meanwhile, Manchester City's 3-0 victory over Sunderland keeps them firmly in the hunt.
And this is the part most people miss...
Liverpool's title defense continues to falter, with another dropped points at Leeds.
In other news, Brighton's Georginio Rutter scored a dramatic late equalizer against West Ham, salvaging a 1-1 draw. Rutter's goal, confirmed after a video review for handball, was his first of the Premier League season.
"Rutter deserved that goal, and it will give him a huge boost going forward," said Brighton coach Fabian Hurzeler. "However, we must be honest with ourselves. We didn't deserve more after that first-half performance."
Brighton, now in seventh place, have failed to win their last two league matches. West Ham, meanwhile, remain 18th and inside the relegation zone after four winless league games.
